Sustainability

Sustainability starts with products designed to last. At Lande, we focus on developing and producing high-quality design furniture with a long lifespan and enduring value.

We actively contribute to the transition towards a circular furniture industry. One in which waste becomes a thing of the past. This ambition calls for innovation and commitment, but is both achievable and essential. Circular design lies at the heart of this approach: new products are developed so that components can be easily reused as resources for future applications. In addition, Lande operates a take-back programme, allowing furniture to be repaired, reupholstered or disassembled for the reuse of individual components.

Through this approach, waste is significantly reduced and a lasting, positive impact is created, for today’s world and for generations to come.

Circulair design
From 2024 onwards, all newly designed Lande furniture is developed according to circular design principles. Only high-quality materials are used, selected for their durability and alignment with circular values.

Each product is designed to be easy to repair, reupholster and reuse. Furniture is constructed in a demountable way, with materials that can be easily separated for reuse or responsible recycling. Existing models are also being reviewed and redesigned step by step, applying the same circular design principles.

Valuable partnerships across the chain
Building a circular economy is a shared responsibility. Close collaboration throughout the entire supply chain is essential to effectively close the loop.

Clear and binding agreements form the foundation of these partnerships. One example is our code of conduct, which defines the standards and values that guide Lande, as well as our suppliers and partners, in the areas of social responsibility and sustainability.

Reducing our ecological footprint
Significant steps have already been taken in the field of sustainability, with structural measurement forming the basis for targeted improvement. Since 1 April 2024, Lande has begun systematically mapping environmental impact on a large scale.

At company, process and product level, the ecological footprint is carefully analysed to gain insight and drive meaningful reduction.

Transparency throughout the product lifecycle
Within Lande’s circular design process, the complete lifecycle of each new product is carefully mapped. The aim is to measure and minimise environmental impact at every stage — from design and material selection to production, distribution, use and end-of-life.

Customer involvement and education
For decades, crafting high-quality furniture with a long lifespan has been a core strength of Lande. At the same time, we actively explore ways to help customers extend the life of their furniture even further.

To support this, clear and accessible information is provided on maintenance, reupholstery, repair options and product return at the end of its lifecycle.

Continuous innovation and improvement
Lande continues to evolve through research and investment in innovative design techniques, sustainable materials and efficient production methods. The focus remains on creating furniture with even greater care for people and the planet.
